What is the size of each character unit on Vestaboard?

Each character unit (or "Bit") is 2.68 inches tall x 1.43 inches wide. Actual character size is 1.04 inches tall x 0.82 inches wide and is visible from 50 feet (15 m) away.

Each Bit is also modular and can easily be replaced by hand and without tools, if necessary, by removing the frame.
