How do I connect my device to an open Wi-Fi network?
If you're connecting to an open or public Wi-Fi network where no password is required, follow the steps below to get online.
Before You Begin
- For Flagship Vestaboard: Ensure your board is updated to firmware version v4.1 or later. If the firmware is outdated, the "Public" network option will not appear.
Need help updating your Vestaboard firmware? Please schedule time with us here. - For Vestaboard Note: Ensure you are within range of the network and have the Vestaboard app open on your mobile device.
How to Connect
- Initiate Recovery Mode on your Flagship Vestaboard or Vestaboard Note.
- Open the mobile app on a phone with active cellular service.
- Tap the gear icon in the lower-right corner to access Settings, then select Connected Network.
- Follow the prompts to connect your Vestaboard to Wi-Fi.
- On the password entry page, select the Public tab at the top, then tap Join.
- After connecting, allow up to five minutes for the app to show an updated Online status.
If your network requires a "splash page" or "captive portal", for example, a web page where you must click "I Agree" or enter a room number, the Vestaboard may require additional configuration.
