Can I set up Vestaboard Note on a shelf, desk, or countertop?

The frameless Vestaboard Note is designed to sit freestanding on any stable surface, offering a modern, edge-to-edge look without the need for wall mounting.

What You'll Need

  • Vestaboard Note (frameless, no optional frame attached)
  • Included power cable (19.7" / 50cm) or optional 8' (2.5m) cable
  • A stable, flat surface near a power outlet

Step 1: Choose Your Location

  • Pick a flat, stable surface such as a shelf, desk, countertop, or built-in niche. Make sure the surface can comfortably support the Note's weight of 16 lbs (7.3 kg) without the frame.

  • Keep in mind that you'll need access to a power outlet nearby. If the nearest outlet isn't within reach of the included 19.7" cable, the optional 8' cable is available at vestaboard.com/cords.

Step 2: Position the Note

  • Place the Vestaboard Note upright on the surface. The display is designed to sit securely on its own. No stand or additional support is required.

  • For the tidiest appearance, route the power cable through the cutout on the back of the Note. This built-in channel helps conceal the cord whether your outlet is behind, below, or to the side of the display.

Step 3: Plug In

  • Connect the power cable to the power jack on the back of the Note, then plug the other end into your wall outlet.

Step 4: Remove the Protective Film

  • Peel off the protective film from the fascia once the Note is in its final position.

Step 5: Pair Your Note

  • Power on your Vestaboard Note and follow the in-app pairing process.

Placement Tips

  • Visibility: Characters are visible from over 50 feet (15 m), so the Note works well in both intimate spaces and larger rooms.
  • Stability: Avoid surfaces that vibrate or are prone to being bumped, especially if children or pets are nearby.
  • Sunlight: Avoid placing the Note in direct sunlight for extended periods to preserve the appearance of the flaps.

Important Notes

  • The optional wall frame is designed for wall mounting only and should not be used for shelf or desktop setups.
  • Even without the frame, the frameless Note can also be wall mounted using the included wall plate or a 200mm × 100mm VESA-compatible mount.
  • If you plan to group multiple Notes together for a larger display, the frameless version is recommended for seamless, stackable arrangements.
