How to install your CM4 Field Solution Kit

Part One - Installation

  1. Open field solution kit box and confirm both the CM4 adapter solution and mini screwdriver are inside the box.
  2. Remove the frame on the Vestaboard and gently set aside. 
  3. Disconnect power from the Vestaboard. *IMPORTANT*
  4. Locate the two lowest Bits in the first column and remove them (How do I remove and replace a Bit?)
  5. Locate the CM3 on the inner lower left corner of the Vestaboard.
  6. You’ll notice the “void if removed” warranty sticker. As we are asking you to remove the CM3, do not worry, your warranty will not be affected by this step.
  7. Using the mini screwdriver provided, carefully remove the screw in the top right corner of the CM3.
  8. Put the screw back into the small plastic bag with the mini screwdriver.
  9. Once the screw has been removed, gently push the top and bottom metal clasps away from the raspberry pi until it pops out at a 45 degree angle. Remove it from the Vestaboard and set aside. Watch the video demonstration below before attempting: 
  11. Take the CM4/adapter solution (found in red bubble wrap) and place into the same spot where the CM3 was just located. Watch the video demonstration below before attempting: 
  13. Leading with the short black edge, install the CM4 at a 45 degree angle into the same port where the CM3 was installed. Gently push it towards the Vestaboard until the metal clasps click into place and the green CM4 is perpendicular to the Vestaboard. 
  14. Replace the two Bits removed previously in step 4 and gently place the frame back on the Vestaboard (How do I remove and replace a Bit?). Lift the bottom of the frame and reconnect power to the Vestaboard. 
  15. Once connected to power, the Vestaboard will go through its initial boot-up sequence. It will then display the pairing code. 

Part Two - Onboarding

  1. To maintain your display history, the previous Vestaboard will be unpaired from the original pairing code. This will turn the paired Vestaboard into a digital Vestaboard in the app. 
    1. From the Settings page in the app, tap Pair on the digital board to input the new pairing code displayed on the Vestaboard.
    2. If starting from scratch, tap Manage next to Current Vestaboard and select Add Vestaboard from the pop-up and input the new pairing code.
  2. Complete the onboarding process. Ensure the Vestaboard connects to Wi-Fi and is able to send messages.
